week 4
assignment 1
Response to Intervention (RTI) is an approach to identifying learning disabilities and applying early intervention. RTI process begins with high-quality instruction and universal screening of all children in the general education classroom. Struggling learners are provided with interventions at increasing levels of intensity to accelerate their rate of learning.Progress is closely monitored to assess both the learning rate and level of performance of individual students. Based on the individual student response to instruction, educators make their decisions about the intensity and frequency of interventions. RTI is designed for use when making decisions in both general education and special education, creating a well-integrated system of instruction and intervention guided by child outcome data. In order for RTI to work we need High-quality, scientifically based classroom instruction, Ongoing student assessment, Tiered instruction and Parent involvement.
RTI seems like a very effective intervention method. I still wonder if it is healthier to wait sometimes for children to work out their own disabilities by themselves and if that doesn't work only then provide intervention.

assignment 2
RTI definitely is important chaya. I feel that as soon as a teacher notices the disability or the student is struggling, the teacher should definitely provide the necessary intervention. why wait until it may get worse?
ReplyDeleteHi Chaya, you explained RTI really well. I just feel like the longer you wait to help a student the bigger the problem gets.. No??
ReplyDeleteGreat Job! You explained the RTI process really well! You had a great question at the end although i think that a child can only benefit from intervention, it cant be detrimental
ReplyDeleteHi Chaya. I liked your response to RTI. I agree with Chava though. Why wait for things to get worse?
